Porcelain Gambit

The roaring flames of the sun sparkling

on cold water.

Warming the surface until the koi swim deeper,

and the leaves wilt under the intensity.

Porcelain petals shattering under your touch,

scars shaped like forget-me-nots,

faint blushed lines tell of your absence.

The flowers are wilting in the frost tonight—

rainflower petals falling into ash,

zinnia scent begging for care,

mulberry bitter on my tongue.

Won't you bring me warmth again?
